Temples in Phuket
There are a some temples in Phuket worth a visit. Please remember to show respect while you are in a temple and use long trousers and a shirt. Please, do not forget to take of your shoes before entering the temple building (Wat in Thai).
Wat Chalong
This is one of the largest temples on Phuket island. Wat Chalong is found in the South of the island next to Chalong Bay.
Wat Phra Thong
In Thalang. This temple is famous for it's golden Buddha statue.
Phuket Jaw (in Phuket town)
Phuket's oldest and largest Chinese temple on Ranong Road.
Thalang National Museum
This museum exhibits historical objects and provides information about the culture in the province. The department about Phuket's first inhabitants (The Sea Gypsies), is usually appreciated. The museum was opened in 1989 and it is located close to the statue of the two heroine sisters, in Thalang.
Phuket Seashell Museum
This museum has an impressive collection of fossils and seashells. Located at Viset Road in Rawai.
Phuket Waterfalls
Phuket waterfalls is not the largest in the country but they are good places for a picnic or to cool off in the waterfalls. There are two really beautiful waterfalls, Ton Sai and Bang Pae, and they are both located in Khao Praew Thaew National Park, 22 kilometers north of Phuket Town. The best time to visit waterfalls is during the monsoon season witch is from May to October, the surrounding jungle is good for trekking.
Viewpoints in Phuket
There are many view points in Phuket. The island offers both stunning sunrises and sunsets. If the sky is really clear you might even see Phi Phi island. Do not forget to visit "Three Beaches Hilltop", located on the road between Nai harn and Kata, or enjoy a refreshing drink on the After Beach Bar (also on the same road) while the sun goes down in the western horizon.
