Phuket Shopping
Department Stores & Shopping Centers
Beside a large number of souvenir shops and clothing stalls, you will also find a few shopping malls in Phuket. Ocean and Robinson are two department stores both located in Phuket City and especially Robinson is probably one of the best alternatives if you are looking for original brands and "designer clothes" in Phuket. Both stores also have a lot of household products and electronics etc. Just behind Robinson, you will find the night market which offers food and traditional Thai products etc.
Tesco Lotus and Big C
On the main road between Phuket City and Patong you will find Tesco Lotus, a large grocery store or hypermarket. Here you are able to buy a lot of local products mixed with imported ones. Tesco also sell clothing, shoes, tools, electronics, games, sports equipment, toys, office supplies and other things you might need if you are going to stay for a while in Phuket.
On the Bypass Road you will find another shopping mall known as Big C. Prices here are normally low. In the car park you find many small clothing shops etc. Inside Big C, there is a wide range of shops selling mobile telephones, clothes, shoes, toys, TV and DVD players, DVD or VCD movies etc. On the top floor there is a bowling alley.
Shopping in Patong
Patong is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Phuket (and Thailand) and also a center of tourist related shopping. Suits, paintings (oil painting reproductions and portraits), watches (the police occasionally raid these market stalls, but you might still find copies of Breitling, Rolex, Omega, Tag Heuer etc.), souvenirs, cd's, electronics etc. is found in the shops and stalls of Patong. Just outside Patong you will also find one of the largest gold shops in Thailand.
